These dance classes are open to all adult and teen dancers in the Birmingham area. Find out below which classes are open for registration. Check out the calendar to see when classes are scheduled.

Choreography Class

Choreography class is a class that's all about dance. Most classes have technique training, across the floor combos among other things, but in this class we focus all our attention on learning choreography. No down the room combos or drills, just dance! 

The choreography of the day will be in different styles depending on the theme of the class. Some examples are jazz, contemporary, and street jazz. 

Please check the theme of the day before signing up for the class.

Open to ages 18 and up. 

5/1 Chorography Class - Contemporary 

5/23 Choreography Class- Street Jazz

Leaps & Turns 

Leaps & Turns is a class dedicated to learning and perfecting intermediate and advanced leaps and turns. This class will include conditioning, drills, and combinations that will help you achieve the best quality technique.

This is a group class open to dancers ages 14 and up. 

Friday, May 3rd

6:00 to 7:15

Contemporary 

This class is dedicated to improving and exploring contemporary movement. We will begin class with an intense warm-up, moving to progressions across the floor, improv,  floor work training, and ending with choreography. Some contemporary training is preferred.

Ages 18 and up. 

Wednesday, May 22nd
6:00 to 7:30

Dance Lab

Dance lab is a class designed for intermediate and advanced dancers who want to hone in on their technique. In this class you will learn new and challenging movements, improve your existing technique, and receive constructive feedback and analysis. Whether you're preparing for an audition, performance, or just want to improve overall, this class will help you achieve your goals!

 

We'll do things like:

•Pull out the mat to practice contemporary falls

•Barre work

•Drills and exercises for various steps

•Floorwork 

•Choreography 

And more!

Lyrical

Lyrical dance is a combination of ballet and jazz dance styles that emphasizes the storytelling quality of music. It is an expressive style of dance that allows the dancer to interpret and express the emotions, lyrics and story associated with a piece of music.

 

We'll begin with a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations and across-the-floor progressions. Please wear lightweight and flexible fabrics such as cotton or lycra for your top and bottom. Avoid wearing baggy clothing that could restrict your movement. Additionally, make sure to wear appropriate footwear; jazz shoes, ballet shoes, socks, or bare feet are ideal.

Saturday, May 18th
2:30 to 4:00

Jazz

This class is designed to cover all aspects of Jazz dance.  We will start with an intense warm-up, leading to strength training of the core and arms. We will then move to progressions across the floor and end with a short combination/choreography. This is a great for Jazz dancers of all levels as we will focus on proper body placement for leaps and turns, as well as other Jazz dance skills. This class is open to beginner, intermediate and advanced students.

Wednesday, May 8th
6:00 to 7:30

Stretch & Flow

Stretch and flow is a unique class that blends the benefits of stretching, conditioning, contemporary dance, and yoga. You will learn how to move your body with grace and fluidity, while improving your flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination. You will also experience the relaxation and mindfulness of yoga, as you pause in stretches and breathe deeply. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced dancer, stretch and flow will challenge you to explore your range of motion and express yourself through movement.

Thursday, May 30th

6:00 to 6:45

Dance Conditioning

Dance Conditioning is a exercise class designed specifically for dancers. The drills, exercises, and combos done in this class will aid in dance technique, performance ability,  body awareness and injury prevention.

As dancers, our bodies are the instrument used to showcase our skills and artistry. This is why it's so important to keep our bodies strong, balanced, and ready for anything thrown at us in the

studio

This class is open for all levels, ages 13 and up.

Archives Class

Archives class is dedicated to continuing the exploration of combos from previous open classes. Many times we do not get to finish our combos completely due to time restrictions. So, we will dedicate time in this class to revisit all

the combos left undone, or move to our favorite finished combos again. 

We will vote every month on the combo (via social media). The styles will vary but will include contemporary, jazz, street jazz, and floor work. 

Open to ages 18 and up.
